Okay, here are the 10 simple steps.
To avoid confusion I have divided them into two equal parts.
- Part one.
Part one involves the right procedure and secure way of checking if your desired name is available. This will help you to avoid the possibility of loosing your newly thought about domain name to fraudulent internet hacker.
How to Register a Domain Name in Your Own Unique Way
- Do a “whois” search to make sure no one has already registered your desired name. It will help you to avoid future problems with the domain name you register. I personally prefer to use Verisign
- On the form, do not include the www with your desired name. For example type in myname.com and not www.myname.com. Also include your desired top level domain you want alongside the name you type into the form, like .com, .edu, .net, .org or any other.
- You might be prompted to enter an onscreen code that will be generated once your hit the search button. Enter the code. This is just a precautionary measure to deter those that might want to abuse or overuse the system.
- Once you hit the search button or you have entered the code and clicked the submit button “whois” will let you know if your name is available or whether it’s already been registered.
- If your name is available, then now is the time to use a low cost domain name registrar. If not then continue with your search.
